Neck

One of my favorite therapy sayings is, "Everything is connected" and often what we think is a hand problem is actually a symptom referring from the neck. For example, nerve compression or tension in the neck can lead to tingling, numbness, or weakness in the arms and hands. Ascend Therapy can address your chronic or acute neck pain and/or stiffness with manual therapy, targeted exercises, dry needling, and postural education to decrease your pain, improve your motion, and in turn improve your quality of life.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a technique that involves use of fine needles inserted into myofascial trigger points, identified as hypersensitive spots, palpated as nodules and/or taut bands.  In conjunction with a comprehensive treatment plan including exercise, stretching, and other therapeutic techniques, dry needling has been scientifically proven to improve patient outcomes by decreasing musculoskeletal acute or chronic pain and improving range of motion.

Benefits include:

  • Reduced muscle tightness and associated pain

  • Decreased headaches due to neck and shoulder pain/tightness

  • Improved mobility

  • Promotes healing by muscle release and circulation to allow the body to heal itself

  • In some cases, immediate relief—with longer, more lasting effects apparent over a few days

Custom Orthotics

Conservative or post operative management with Splinting/Orthotics

Custom orthotics, commonly called splints, are specially designed medical devices that are custom molded to you in order to help support, align, promote functional use of the arm, decrease pain, and promote healing. Often times, these are fabricated after a surgical procedure once the cast is removed. Other times, they are made to prevent the need for surgical intervention as conservative management.  I am happy to custom design orthoses to provide you specialized care, tailored to your unique needs.

Sometimes, the best option for treatment involves off-the-shelf splint options. I am well versed in the many available options and can help guide you on what would best fit your specific needs.

Telehealth/Virtual Visits

I understand it can be difficult getting into a clinic for various reasons. Telehealth sessions give you the opportunity to get quality care you need from wherever you may be. This option can also be used in a hybrid treatment plan with in-person and virtual options depending on your needs. Virtual sessions can be utilized if you are in the state of Indiana or Missouri.
